As of October 14, 2014, Therese Fergo has joined the Danish Embassy and Trade Council in Washington, DC, as Advisor in Health and Life Sciences. She is assisting the team by sharing her knowledge about strategic planning and business development for health and life sciences companies interested in entering/expanding their market share into the US. Her core competencies include researching and interacting with companies that may become potential commercial partners to interested firms, liaising with government and multi-lateral entities, helping businesses formulate their needs to better achieve their commercial goals.
During her 10 years at the World Bank Group, she was responsible for the financial and portfolio management of a US$1 billion Health in Africa Program where she was involved in setting up the associated US$300 million equity fund and US$500 million debt facility for health. She was the program manager of various regional market intelligence reports on private and public health sectors related to the Business of Health in Africa and for specific countries such as Ghana, Mali, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo and India. She also worked as a Senior Evaluation and Implementation Specialist while living in Comoros and Madagascar covering programs related to HIV/AIDS prevention.
In the private sector, Therese partnered with the Health Investment and Financing Corporation and assisted foreign disruptive technologies companies better understand entry barriers/opportunities to the US. She is also familiar with the US life science industry, as she worked as Vice President of Staff and Investor Relations at United Therapeutics Corporation, from inception to IPO.
Therese earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and her Master of Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University in the US.
