The American-Danish Business Council and the Embassy of Denmark in Washington focus on cooperation between Danish and American defense companies in the U.S. Between April 10-15, 2016, Danish companies went on a joint series of company visits in Michigan, Washington DC, and New York City.
On April 12, as part of the overall program, the Embassy of Denmark in Washington, DC held a special event focused on sharing knowledge and cooperation within the defense industry.
Lieutenant Colonel Per Lyse Rasmussen commenced the afternoon with a welcome to the Danish Embassy addressing efforts made by the Danish Defence and the importance of collaboration between Danish and U.S defence companies.
Among the key speakers for the event at the Embassy of Denmark on April 12, were Mr. André Gudger, former editor of Defense News Vago Muradian and Todd Harrison from CSIS participated. General Peter Bartram, Chief of Defence Denmark, further briefed invited guests about the future of Danish defense.
Along with the event at the Embassy of Denmark on April 12, company visits and single sessions to a series of American defense companies helped to facilitate contact between companies across the Atlantic, and furthermore, to give Danish companies the opportunity to learn more about which Danish core competencies that are in demand in the U.S. defense industry.
From April 10-15, the overall program for the participating companies was concentrated on visits to companies specializing in solutions within the defense industry. First stop was made at General Dynamics Land Systems in Sterling Heights. General Dynamics Land Systems design and produce armoured weapon systems and electronics for the defense industry. Next, the participating companies visited BAE Systems and Raytheon, both of which are specialized in solutions for aerospace and defense, along with L-3, a supplier of surveillance and navigation solutions.
The following days after the event, the delegation of defense companies continued their visits to companies such as Boeing in Philadelphia, PA, Lockheed Martin in Moorestown, NJ and Telephonics in Farmingdale, NY, before the final visit to Bloomberg in New York on April 15.
