Thursday evening, November the 14th, the Washington Foreign Law Society honored the Kingdom of Denmark at their 2013 Annual Reception. The reception took place in the Diplomatic Reception Rooms at the U.S. Department of State.
The Diplomatic Reception Rooms on the 8th floor of the U.S. Department of State’s office building were the beautiful setting of the 2013 Annual Reception organized by the Washington Foreign Law Society with the aim of honoring the Kingdom of Denmark and recognizing the role that Denmark has played in advancing a better and more just international legal order.
President of the Washington Foreign Law Society, Kristen McGeeney gave welcoming remarks followed by Mary McLeod, Acting Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State. One of the reasons Denmark deserved to be honored, according to Ms McLeod, was simply because “Denmark is cool!”.
In his speech, Ambassador Taksøe-Jensen admitted that being the Danish Ambassador to the U.S. might be one of the easiest jobs in the world; “When the United States already considers your country one of its closest allies, strengthening our existing bonds becomes a lot easier”.The Ambassador concluded his speech by thanking the Washington Foreign Law Society and the State Department Legal Adviser’s Office for bestowing upon Denmark this great honor and stated: “It is a true testament to the bond that for centuries has marked the special relationship between our two countries”.
