EU Open House at the Embassy of Denmark

EU Open House at the Embassy of Denmark

Denmark opened its doors to the public on May 14th in celebration of the annual EU Open house event.

The event is the highlight of the Washington May calendar and is celebrated during Europe Week. The event draws +50.000 visitors in total and between 3-4000 to the embassy of Denmark alone.

The Danish Embassy focused on Denmark in the U.S. where the themes was showcasing Danish companies that operate in the U.S. as well as providing a cultural aspect where visitors could learn more about Denmark and Danish culture. Denmark frequently tops the world rankings when it comes to green tech and general satisfaction with life.
The embassy had a number of stands and activities including ADBC members, Terma, Kelsen Cookies, Arla, LEGO, Novozymes and Novo Nordisk who chose to show case their companies at the event.

Within Danish culture lies food as well and this year we were happy to host a number of different Danish food exhibitors at the Embassy.

Amongst the selection of exhibitors invited we were happy to host Joe & the Juice for the first time. Joe & the Juice is a popular Danish coffee and juice retailer which has now opened up 3 different store locations in New York. They were a popular addition to the sunny day with their “pick me up” juice proving to be a big hit after the trek up the hill to the Danish Embassy!
We were also happy to host newly joined ADBC member ARLA, a Danish dairy producer, who provided quality cheeses and snacks for guests who took the residence tours.
Among our other food stands we had “Flødeboller” which is a distinctly Danish dessert which can be described as a marshmallow covered in a thin chocolate layer of goodness!

Below you can view a few pictures from the event which was visited by Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Jensen who both gave a lucky few a bike ride around the Embassy!
