Trade continues to be a major focus area for the embassy in Washington D.C. and last week we had our annual Trade Council meeting in Toronto which marked a new era of North American collaboration. We are pleased to announce that the Trade Councils in Canada and the U.S. have been consolidated thereby forming the North American Trade Council, which further strengthens and expands the possibilities for cooperation between the two regions.
Among the attendees were 59 Trade Advisors and 3 Ambassadors from Atlanta, Chicago, Silicon Valley, New York, Ottawa, Toronto and Washington in addition to Susanne Hyldelund from headquarters gathered together in Toronto, Canada from May 9th – 11th. The aim of the visit was to create an opportunity for everyone to network, share best-practices and insight for current and future collaboration.
Canadian Chamber of Commerce CEO, Perrin Beatty, bid the group welcome on May 9th followed by a visit from Mayor John Tory on May 10th. Steve Hunt, CEO of COWI North America also provided an inspiring insight as to how COWI established a successful merger between their Canadian and American offices to better service their international market.
