Danish Industry (DI) is stepping up its political focus in the US. As of September 2014, Andreas Brunsgaard arrived in Washington as the new political representative of DI in the US.

Andreas has worked for DI for seven years and has lived in Belgium for the last four years, working as senior adviser for European affairs at DI in Brussels.

Building on his international network and understanding of international politics, Andreas will continue his work for DI as the political voice of DI in Washington DC, focusing particularly on the negotiations on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between Europe and the US.

TTIP is a top priority for DI. Today, the US is Denmark’s third largest export market. An ambitious TTIP agreement can increase this export with up to 28 percent, thereby strengthening the manufacturing base and creating new jobs.

Part of the political advocacy in DC will focus on extending DI’s political network in the US, especially regarding forming strong alliances with the American business community other European industrial federations present in Washington.

In addition to the political work, Andreas will also be involved in the Danish Cleantech Hub in New York, an initiative by DI and State of Green. As a US-Danish public-private partnership, Danish Cleantech Hub is a single point of entry for all cleantech related activities between New York and Denmark.

Andreas holds a Master’s degree in political science from the University of Copenhagen and has also studied political science at the University of California at San Diego.
