Plans have been confirmed to build ROCKFON’s first North American manufacturing facility in the U.S., meeting the growing demand for our stone wool acoustic ceiling products and extending our global capacity.
The new ROCKFON facility will be located adjacent to the existing ROXUL USA facility located in Byhalia Mississippi, approximately 30 miles south of Memphis Tennessee. The new ROCKFON facility represents an initial investment of approximately $40 million U.S. dollars by their parent company, ROCKWOOL International A/S, and further demonstrates the commitment in developing the North American market. The State of Mississippi, Marshall County and other agencies have provided significant investments to have the manufacturing facility established there. “I am glad to welcome ROCKFON as the newest business partner to the State of Mississippi, and I am particularly grateful to the company for creating new jobs and economic opportunities for the residents of Marshall County,” Gov. Phil Bryant said. “The company’s decision to locate its very first North American facility here is a strong testament to the supportive business environment and quality workforce found throughout the state. I wish the ROCKFON team many years of success in North Mississippi.”
Construction of the ROCKFON facility will begin in early 2016, with production expected to begin mid-2017. Once completed, the facility is anticipated to span 130,000 square feet (12,000 square meters) and the site allows room for future expansion. The Mississippi facility will be ROCKFON’s fifth manufacturing facility in the world with other production facilities in Holland, France, Poland and Russia.
ROCKFON plans to hire approximately 100 people to work in the new facility. Positions will be open at all levels from management to skilled production staff. A well-trained workforce is essential to supporting ROCKFON’s high quality standards.
“Stone wool acoustic ceiling products currently sold in the North American market are manufactured in our Cigacice manufacturing plant in Poland. Local production will dramatically reduce lead times on orders and will allow us to better compete for future projects. We will continue to manufacture our ROCKFON specialty metal ceiling panels and Chicago Metallic® suspension systems in our Chicago and Baltimore facilities.” stated John Medio, ROCKFON’s president of the Americas.
