Transatlantic Company of the Year – 8 finalists found!

AmCham is now proud to present the 8 finalists for the 2015 Transatlantic Company of the Year.The jury, consisting of distinguished business leaders appointed by AmCham’s Board of Directors, found the field of nominees to be very impressive and varied. The companies are:

Bavarian Nordic

Bavarian Nordic is among the key players in the biodefense industry. Since 2003 they have been in close partnership with the US government, developing new countermeasures against biological weapons and the development of vaccines against infectious diseases, like Ebola. Bavarian Nordic currently employees 450 people, with 73 employed in the US.

Plumrose USA (Danish Crown)

Plumrose USA is a fully owned subsidiary of the Danish Crown Group and is a food manufacturer with five production plants in the US. The company employs 1,300 and produces bacon, sliced luncheon meat and cooked baby back ribs. The company has experienced solid sales growth over the past five years. In 2013 Plumrose USA opened a new $80 million modern facility in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This facility was also named “Sustainable Plant of the Year 2013” by FoodEngineering.

Gehl Architechts

Gehl Architechts is a global research and design consultancy, focusing on the relationship between the built environment and people’s quality of life. They provide assistance in the planning and design of cities, districts, communities, streets and spaces. In March 2014, Gehl Architects expanded to the US with new studios in New York and San Francisco. Gehl Studio is continuously growing — and has doubled its revenue in 2015 to nearly $3 million. Gehl Studio is currently working on projects in over 10 US cities

GN Resound

GN ReSound is one of the leading developers and manufacturers of advanced and innovative hearing healthcare solutions in the world. The company provides hearing instruments and diagnostic audio logical instrumentations. Recently, GN Resound extended their contract with Costco, which accounts for an increasing proportion of hearing aid sales in the US market. GN ReSound is part of GN Store Nord, a company listed on Nasdaq OMX Copenhagen and part of the OMXC20 index.

Ramboll

Ramboll is a leading engineering, design and consultancy company employing close to 12,500 experts in 35 countries over the Nordic region, North America, UK, Continental Europe, Middle East and India, with a significant presence in Asia, Australia, South America and Sub-Saharan Africa. In December 2014, Ramboll acquired the US-based consultancy company, ENVIRON, which is Ramboll’s biggest investment to date. Ramboll now has more than 900 environmental and health science specialists in the US and is among the world’s top 10 leading environmental consultancies. The combined revenue of Ramboll and ENVIRON exceeds $1.7 billion.

Sitecore

Sitecore is the global leader in customer experience management. It has more than 1,500 certified partners who provide applications and services to their customers, supported by Sitecore’s regional and corporate units. More than 4,400 of the world’s leading brands – including American Express, Carnival Cruise Lines, EasyJet, Heineken and L’Oréal trust Sitecore to help them deliver the meaningful interactions that win customers for life. In 2014, Sitecore reached 175 employees and their revenues in the US experienced a growth of almost 50% from the year 2013 to 2014. Furthermore, Sitecore received the 2014 Microsoft Alliance ISV Partner of the Year Award.

Siteimprove

Siteimprove is the world-leading provider of web governance tools and solutions. In 2005 they opened their US subsidiary in Minneapolis. The US market accounts for 63% of their worldwide revenue and in the past three years, their US revenue has grown by an amazing 445%. Furthermore, Siteimprove has been named one of Minnesota Business Magazine’s Top 100 Companies to Work for three years in a row. With more than 150 employees, Siteimprove has offices in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, UK, Ireland, and the U.S.

Weibel Scientific

Weibel Scientific is the leading global producer and exporter of Doppler radars for use in space research. They have been working closely with US space and defense agencies since 1983, and more than 50% of Weibel’s production is now sold in the US market. Weibel develops innovative sensor solutions for Balistic Missile Defense (BMD) for the protection of US Homeland and European NATO territory, in cooperation with US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and the Danish Defense.

All the nominated companies have awakened great interest among the jury members and all show significant achievements in more than one of the five criteria.

Danish Ambassador Peter Taksøe Jensen and U.S. Ambassador J. Rufus Gifford will announce the winner on March 17, 2015 at the Transatlantic Business Summit at Maersk Headquarters in Copenhagen.

The American Danish Business Council (ADBC) has partnered with AmCham in Denmark to announce the 2015 Transatlantic Company of the Year. The Danish Transatlantic Company of the Year recognizes the importance, contributions and positive impact of Danish companies actively investing in the United States. The award is presented annually in order to highlight the importance of the economic ties between the United States and Denmark and to celebrate business excellence by a Danish company in arguably the most competitive market in the world.

The Transatlantic Company of the Year is awarded to a registered Danish company invested in the US that has demonstrated significant achievements within the United States, in one or more of the following areas:

  • Growth: Relative growth in turnover, employees or profitability in USA.
  • Investment: Significant investments in R&D, new facilities or acquisitions in USA.
  • Partnerships: Strategic partnerships in USA, with organizations, companies or government agencies.
  • Innovation: Development/implementation of an innovative solution in USA.
  • CSR/Sustainability: CSR programs in the USA & how they increase overall sustainability.
