Dear Members of the American-Danish Business Council,
2019 is just about to end and what an extraordinary year it has been. The ADBC has over the years only grown stronger and increasingly influential in facilitating a common platform for Danish and American companies to engage with the political environment and amongst each other here in Washington DC. This success is largely thanks to our members and I want to express my sincerest gratitude to each and every one of you for your time, engagement in our network, and financial support this year.
Throughout more than two centuries, the United States and Denmark have solidified a remarkable and uninterrupted relationship. This relationship is based on our common values and shared objectives to increase mutual beneficial cooperation on agendas such as bilateral economic development and investments, foreign and domestic policy as well as security. I believe that strong collaboration on these vital issues forms the basis for further growth of our transatlantic relationships, and the ADBC is a clear testimonial to this great relationship. Personally, I feel incredibly privileged and humble to have had the pleasure of meeting so many new great and inspiring people in my function as Ambassador and as Chairman of the ADBC during this year.
Circling back to the economic relations between our nations, we reached a very exciting milestone in the last quarter of this year. The United States surpassed Germany and is now Denmark’s’ largest export market. This is truly impressive and speaks to the fact that the US and Denmark are being increasingly tied together through intensified trade and investments across the Atlantic. Going forward, I believe that 2020 will be another impactful year, and in the ADBC we aspire to elevate our ambitions even further. We will focus on more sector specific events as well and increased interaction with the political environment.
On a final note, I want to wish you and all of your families a wonderful holiday season. This is a delightful time of the year – a time to unwind and recharge. I am indeed very excited to have my very first American Christmas here in Washington DC, and I am looking forward to see all of you in 2020. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Yours sincerely,
Lone Dencker Wisborg
Ambassador of Denmark to the United States
