The Embassy of Denmark, ADBC and the Congressional Friends of Denmark Caucus hosted an event at the U.S Capitol in honor of the visit by Danish Prime Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, and Foreign Minister, Kristian Jensen. The overriding goal of the Friends Caucus, whose membership counts several prominent Members of the House of Representatives, is to promote Danish – U.S. ties, and Danish business interests in the U.S.
Democratic Whip Hoyer, who chairs the Congressional Friends of Denmark Caucus together with co-chair Rep. Tom Cole, and is himself of Danish descent, saw the event as an opportunity for Danish businesses to get a foot in Congress’s door. Among those attending the event, in addition to the two co-chairs, were majority Leader McCarthy, Majority Whip Scalise and Minority Leader Pelosi. A total of 38 members of the House, several high-ranking staffers and several American-Danish Business Council members attended the successful launch reception.
PM Løkke was very pleased about the event and stated “It will open doors for Danish companies and mean jobs on both sides of the Atlantic, especially for those sectors wherein Danish businesses have unique skills to offer the US market, for example. green solutions, life science and design”.
Danish PM Mr. Lars Løkke and the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Kristian Jensen attended as part of their visit to D.C. to participate in the Nordic Summit, which was held at the White House on May 13th.
