In the last weekend of August 2016, a group of brave Danish veterans from the organization Veterans in Motion participated in a 2000 meter swim in the canals of Copenhagen.

To join them swimming were the U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, Rufus Gifford and President and CEO of Terma North America, Steve Williams, who is sponsoring partner of Veterans in Motion.
As the veterans, the U.S. Ambassador and Steve Williams crossed the finish line, they were received by the Danish Ambassador to the U.S., Lars Lose, who cheered for the swimmers along their way.
It is a tradition to the veterans, the ambassadors and Steve Williams to join the swimming contest Christiansborg Rundt which is held in Copenhagen every year in August.

The canals of Copenhagen are extremely clean, which allow the people of Copenhagen to utilize the harbour area in a unique way by for example arranging swimming contests in the canals.
