Dear ADBC members,
It is with great pleasure that I bring this update to you. We have ended the first half of 2016 on a high note with a number of events and several important visits between Denmark and the United States.
We have, among others, hosted Prime Minister Lars Løkke, who has visited twice in the first half of 2016. Both in relation to TTIP negotiations as well as partaking in the Nordic Summit hosted by President Obama at the White House.
In June, Secretary of State John Kerry paid an official visit to Denmark and Greenland. During the visit, he met with Prime Minister Lars Løkke and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Jensen to discuss Artic cooperation, climate, ISIL, the political situation in Ukraine as well as trade.
In addition to these landmark events, I am also very happy to witness the tremendous progress that ADBC has been making so far this year with a substantial increase to our member base as well as the exemplary execution of our events. We have had a number of events this year, with one of my personal highlights being the reception with the Friends of Denmark Caucus and ADBC members. Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, who has roots in Denmark, was the moving force behind the organization of this successful event, and thanks in part to his work we are confident that this partnership will flourish in years to come. If you would like an overview of our events so far this year, we have recently updated our event calendar, which can be found on the website.
The second half of 2016 is going to be just as busy and we look forward to the upcoming visit by the Royal Crown Prince Couple in September, which will require the effort of all capable hands at the Embassy. The visit is part of an export promotional tour to the U.S. visiting Washington D.C. and Boston with an entourage of 60 Danish companies.
I would like to conclude by thanking all our members for a great first half of 2016 and for the engagement and contributions we have received.
I wish you all a nice summer.
Ambassador Lars Lose
